Back to school
After all these years, off I go to a design course, in the local school. I’m still reeling from the sock of seeing a very old school report, which stated, “Mark is apprehensive when confronted with new ideas. But with encouragement, tunes in quickly and works hard”. The shock came with the realisation that the comment is still true today, 40 years later!
I am thinking also about an IT course later. I will write up some of the information I pick up on here. The tool we are using in the course is FrontPage. However, it appears there are some worrying conflicts with Frontpage and Yahoo web hosting. Yahoo say they do not recommend using FTP programmes in conjunction with sites built using Frontpage, because there is a risk of damaging the server extensions. And guess who uses Yahoo web hosting
I’ve also been tyring Yahoo site builder. This is easy to use, but it seems not possible to add templates later, you have to start with those, or blank page. Blank page is fine for the skilled web designer, but for novices wanting to add some predesigned glamour might want to download and add templates. And later on find out of course that these are lousy with search engines! So at present, I’m torn between the two.
I also have to get hosting for Markantony.net, the domain which I want to use to try to establish myself as a guitarist again. I will go for domain forwarding, to maybe one of the free web hosting services for now.

interesting…. it is nice to go back to school. I did so when i was 30 something . I got a german certificate and it is a different way of seeing things. Perhaps you will have younger mates and you will notice that the things that worry them a re not a problem any more for you and the way back.
Good luck and let us know how things are
