Avoid a recital where there is a silent critical audience sitting row on row in front of you.
A folk club could be good venue. The audience will be quiet and appreciative but it will still be a test for your nerves, playing into the silence.
Restaurants are okay, but there is a lot of movement (by the waitresses and a lot of talk from only half listening diners)

Hey there, La Jan, many thanks for stopping by! It was very informal, but it felt good, after all that time. I used to get nervous before playing, but far less so these days. After all, I know I'm going to make mistakes galore, so why worry about it :loll:

I look forward to your first, or next, art exhibition, if you want a guitarist I'll play in the backgorund, just the sort of gig I enjoy best!

Thanks again, and remember your very own "illusion virtuoso" commendation

Bravo my friend, BRAVO!!

I wish I could have had a front row seat. As you know, I have no talent for music and the classical pieces you speak of I could not tell one from the other I'm afraid, yet I get a bit teary eyed and a gentle chill runs through me just thinking of being there hearing what I know must be beautiful music. And as little as I may know about classical guitar I know enough to know it is an incredible art form to achieve and perhaps an even greater achievement was your returning to perform before a live audience after a 5 year absence.

BRAVO! BRAVO! BRAVO!!
