Hi there, La Jan, good to see you again :) I'm very grateful to Neil for taking time out to answer my questions, he has done a great deal to assist other players over the years. I'm glad you enjoyed the points raised.

Take care!

I think preperation is the key here. The root of nerves can perhaps be traced to lack of confidence, and the better prepared one is, the greater understanding of the phrases you are about to play, this can be a building block for confidence to emerge.

Thanks for stopping by Noel :)

Obviously, dealing with technical difficulties of a piece(making hard parts smooth) keeping correct time, incorporating ones interpretation and committing it all to memory is the front line when presenting a musical work for a public concert.

Some good points Neil mentioned and I look at them as a kind of backup or reinforcing of ones confidence, is knowing where one is, chordally in a tune and where it is progressing chordally.

For example, one chord (with say a 9th or 6th or 7th) will cover maybe two, three, four or more bars. Which means you know what chord shape you are working around if you have to play a lot of melody, scale or chromatic notes through these bars.
