Peo Kindgren

 Peo

I am pleased to welcome Per Olov Kindgren to my website. One of the most popular performers on Youtube, Swedish guitarist Peo now lives in Copenhagen. He performs his own compositions, as well as many original arrangements, and a significant range from “traditional” classical guitar repertoire.  A number of  Beatles ballads have been arranged by Peo, encompassed by his warm, haunting tonal contrasts from his Phillipe Jean-Mairet guitar.

He also teaches guitar, enjoys travel, and has a “date” with me to play Snooker if he visits UK! Recently he took time out to talk with me.

What age did you begin guitar?

I started at the age of 7. I have always wanted to play guitar. And I am happy to have the talent to be able to make a living from it.

Can you describe a typical practice routine, like scales first, studies..

I always start my day with the guitar by playing arpeggios and Tarregas studies. (scales). But not too much as I like to play real music!  And a cup of coffee is great beside the sheetmusic

Which composers or styles do you particulary enjoy playing most?

I love Bach. I never get tired of his music. And Piazzolla, Lauro and Dowland rank high on my list too!

Can you tell us about your new CD?

My CD, that hopefully will be issued in December, will contain my own compositions. I have decided, together with friends and producer it will be a good idea to play only my own compositions this time. Next CD will be Bach, Dowland and modern composers, I think. The graphic layout is made by my girlfriend. I am afraid it will look better than it sounds.. :-)

Finally Peo, what is it about the guitar which you love most, or what has the instrument given you in return for your years of devotion?

Well, my guitar has given me EVERYTHING in my life. My house, my job, my women. Joy, friends and beautiful music too! I am facinated by the guitar; it’s female shape, it’s softness, stubborness end challenge! Nothing on a guitar comes easily. I like that! It’s like a bullfight! And in the end, when mastered, it produces that beautiful, intimate sound.

Thank you very much for your time Peo.

Thank you for letting me talk!

You can  visit Peo’s website, where guitarists  can follow links to Edition Global Music to purchase his compositions and arrangements. Peo’s website.

Thank you for posting this short interview with Peo. He deserves any and all recognition he can be exposed to. His is a music that touches souls. This is where it stands out among others. Yesterday I read something he said about why that is. He mentioned the silence before the music begins, and how important to music that silence is. He stated it makes the music what it is. That is such a profoundly true statement! I am so grateful for Peo’s music. It comforts me when I am sad and adds to my sense of knowledge of our inner beauty. Not many things I can claim that do that! Thank you, Peo.

Thanks Amy, for your comment. I agree regarding Peo’s music. As to music, John Williams also said the space between the notes is as important as the notes themselves. This feeling of space is evident in Peo’s composition “Before The Silence”.

I hope also to review Peo’s new CD soon :)

Ahhh, truly a man with great talent in music deserves this kind of acknowledgment. Thank you for featuring one of the greatest guitar player of our time. Peo’s music inspires a lot of people, esp. people like me, an aspiring guitarist, who wants to follow his footsteps. What amazes me is the way he can communicate his feelings thru his playing, Peo can make his audience feel his emotions thru his music, and this,i guess, is what makes him unique from the rest. Thank you Peo, for those music you make.

Thanks Rod, for your comment. I agree Peo has special talent in the way he communicates his feelings through his guitar, but let’s not forget he has worked on his technique to enable that. Technique… that’s where the blood sweat and tears comes into it! The part we don’t see, the many hours of practice ;) I’m delighted to learn Peo’s CD is selling so fast

My best wishes for your own practice, Rod. Enjoy your guitar, that is the special part.
