In summer 2008 comes the new Codemasters game title, Grid, an extension to the series TOCA, and later Race Driver series.
Ralph Fulton, Chief Game Designer states: “GRID focuses on everything that happens between the start grid and the chequered flag: the drama, the rivalries, the aggression and the crashes. This is not a game about collecting cars or spending all of your time in the front-end tuning suspension settings or designing liveries. We want to make racing exciting again.” (Note: Is this an admission that the last released titles have NOT been exciting??)
Heartwarming words though, from Fulton, because since the first installment of the series, then titled TOCA Touring Cars and TOCA2, which was an in depth simulation of the BTTC season, where the player joined in a team over a whole season, I feel the series has lost much of the intense rivalry, the game becoming more impersonal with racing against cars with faceless drivers, as opposed to the games earlier TOCA rivalries, where one could get immense satisfaction of a tactical race over 13 laps, and maybe even dumping James Thompson or Alain Menu out of the race into the bargain!
Many racing gamers would love to see a return to BTCC simulation, or even a world Touring Cars series using similar formula. But over the years, Codemasters have refused to listen. Can the latest title live up to expectation? Below is a sample video of the forthcoming game. Feast your eyes on this one…

Another trailer for the eagerly awaited game.

As excitement mounts for the April 29 release for Grand Theft Auto 4, Rockstar Games have announced there will not be a trailer for the game, adding it would not be worth the time and effort.
This is the first outing for one of the all time great game titles in next generation format. Characters include Nico Bellic, Eastern European immigrant, who is the main character to control. Friendly buffoon Roman, heavily into debt, who runs a taxi depot, drug dealer Elizabeta, corrupt cop Francis McReary, streetwalker Lola, who works in the docks (pictured )

150 developers have been working on the game, which has been in progress since 2004, with teams working in Edinburgh, San Diego, and New York. The title will be released on XBox and PS3 formats, though PC gamers will eagerly await developments. We can expect though, and future release on PC will test our systems capabilities to the limit.Meanwhile, enjoy some more screenshots.

Sorry I’ve been a little lax with site updates recently. I note the games section of this site is receiving most attention, so I’m considering expanding that part, or even create a forum. Any thoughts on that issue, please let me know.
In the Technology news recently, it looks News Corporation, owners of MySpace, might enter into the bidding war for Yahoo, to rival Microsofts earlier bid.
Other news, Richard Branson has called for an “envoromental war room” to combate climate change. Full story.
Finally, the official GTA4 website has opened. Soon a full preview will be coming this way…
Here is latest trailer to the next installment of Resident Evil…
One of the all time great computer game series, Metal Gear Solid features the character Solid Snake, who is entrusted to infilltrate enemy buildings, on a mission of sabotage. Who can forget the original Metal Gear mission set in a small island off Alaska..The spooky settings, stealth taken to new dimensions, the boss battles including an awesome duel with a helicopter on the roof, and the terryfing Shayman with the huge machine gun..And most of all for me, the music.
The score is haunting throughout, but nowhere better than the closng video sequence. I don’t have the original game ending, but here is a video of the third game instalment, in the jungle, using the same music. The song itself, translated into English is by Tappy, “The Best is Yet to Come”. But here it’s sung in Gaelic, like a whimsical Irish folk song, with Japanese accentuation in parts.
I’ve been a great fan of this classic football simulation ever since it debuted on the SNES 12 years ago. The latest offering, Pro Evo 2008, is now available, the series making it’s PS3 debut, boasting “teamvision”, a computer smart reaction to changing tactics during matches, a hugely enhanced Master league, more player animations than ever…
and more teams and options than you can shake a leg at. Here is a video of some goals I scored from the last offering, Pro Evo 6. When you have player moves such as these, who cares about liscences…
Video trailer for the forthcoming game…
